Internet Explorer Settings for the Electronic Study Guide

The Electronic Study Guide uses active content (JavaScript). In order for it to operate correctly, permission must be granted for the use of active content (JavaScript). If you are using Internet Explorer on a computer that is using Windows XP, Service Pack 2, please click here for instructions on how to allow this content to operate. Internt Explorer with Windows XP, Service Pack 2

Internet Explorer blocks active content from running on files on your computer. This program requires active content to be allowed to run in files on your computer.

To run active content, you can either allow active content to run each time you start the program (session-to-session), or change your Internet Explorer settings to always allow active content to be run. Directions for each approach are included below.

To allow the program to run active content on a session-to-session basis, follow these steps:
  1. Click on the yellow bar at the top of the screen.
  2. Click on the "Allow Blocked Content..." option.
  3. Click "Yes" within the pop-up window that appears.

To always allow active content to be run from any file on your computer, follow these steps:
  1. From the "Tools" menu select "Internet Options..."
  2. Click on the "Advanced" tab.
  3. Scroll down to the "Security" section.
  4. Select the checkbox next to the option "Allow active content to run in files on My Computer".
  5. Click "OK" and reload the page.


Other Browser/Computer Combinations

If you are not using Internet Explorer with Windows XP, Service Pack 2 and are having difficutly accessing the Electronic Study Guide, it may be because JavaScript is not enabled in your browser. Follow the instructions below based on the browser you are using. If the instructions for your browser are not listed, follow the instructions in the help for your browser to enable JavaScript.

Internet Explorer users
  1. From the "Tools" menu select "Internet Options..."
  2. Click on the "Security" tab.
  3. Highlight the "Local intranet" icon.
  4. Click on the "Custom Level..." button.
  5. Scroll down to the "Scripting" section.
  6. Select the radio button next to "Enable" in the "Active scripting" sub-section.
  7. Click "OK".
  8. Select "Yes" within the pop-up window that appears.
  9. Click "OK" and reload the page.

Firefox users
  1. From the "Tools" menu select "Options".
  2. Click on "Content" at the top of the window that appearst.
  3. Check the box next to "Enable JavaScript".
  4. Click "OK" and reload the page.

Netscape users
  1. From the "Edit" menu select "Preferences".
  2. Click on "Advanced" in the menu on the left.
  3. Check the box next to "Enable JavaScript".
  4. Click "OK" and reload this page.
