Overview

You can link to many resources available from DavisPlus directly into your learning management system. Detailed instructions for adding these to a number of popular learning management systems are included below.

WebCT

  1. Find the resource you wish to link to in DavisPlus.
  2. Copy the URL for that resource. Be sure to highlight the entire link and copy it.
  3. Login to WebCT as a Designer.
  4. Navigate to the location where you wish to insert the link.
  5. On the left-hand menu, click the "Add Page or Tool" button under the heading "Options: Links".
  6. The "Add Page or Tool" screen will appear. Under the heading "Pages" click the link labeled "URL".
  7. The "Add URL" screen will appear. Type a name for the page in the box next to "Enter a title for this item: ".
  8. Delete any text in the box next to "Address:". Paste the link you copied in step 2 into the box.
  9. The next line on the page controls how the resources will open. Select the button next to either "New browser window" or "Same browser window" depending on your preference.
  10. You are then given the option of choosing where you wish the link to display. You can choose for it to be part of the main menu or choose any of the Organizer type pages in your course.
  11. Click the "Add" button.
  12. A link to the resource is now added and should appear on the page you specified.

Blackboard

  1. Find the resource you wish to link to in DavisPlus.
  2. Copy the URL for that resource. Be sure to highlight the entire link and copy it.
  3. Login to Blackboard as an Instructor.
  4. Open up the Control Panel. When the Control Panel opens select "External Links".
  5. On the "External Links" screen, click the "Add Item" button.
  6. The "Add Link" page will appear. Type a name for the page in the box next to the text "Name:".
  7. Delete any text in the box next to "URL:". Paste the link you copied in step 2 into the box.
  8. Type any description you wish in the box next to "Description:".
  9. Under "Options" you can indicate how you wish this link to function. Choose whether or not to make the link visible and whether or not it should open in an external window depending on your preference.
  10. Click "Submit".
  11. Click "OK" when prompted.
  12. A link to the resource is now added and should appear on the "External Links" page.

Desire2Learn

  1. Find the resource you wish to link to in DavisPlus.
  2. Copy the URL for that resource. Be sure to highlight the entire link and copy it.
  3. Login to Desire2Learn as an Instructor.
  4. From the Course Home page, click "Links" from the Navigation bar.
  5. The "Course Links" page appears. Click "Manage Links".
  6. The "Manage Links" page appears. Click "Create a New Link".
  7. The "Create a New Link" dialog box appears. Type a title for the page in the box next to the text "Title:".
  8. Delete any text in the box next to "URL:". Paste the link you copied in step 2 into the box.
  9. Choose whether or not to make the link to be public and whether or not it should open in an external window depending on your preference.
  10. Click "Create Link".
  11. Type any description you wish in the box next to "Description:".
  12. A link to the resource is now added and should appear on the "Course Links" page.

ANGEL

  1. Find the resource you wish to link to in DavisPlus.
  2. Copy the URL for that resource. Be sure to Highlight the entire link and copy it.
  3. Login to ANGEL as an Instructor.
  4. Select the "Lessons" tab and navigate to the appropriate folder or location. Select the "Add Content" link in the toolbar. Select "Add a Link" from the list of content types. In the settings toolbar, select the "Advanced" check box to reveal all setting options.
  5. Type a title for the page in the box next to the text "Title".
  6. Type a title for the page in the box next to the text "Subtitle".
  7. Type any description you wish in the box next to "Description".
  8. Delete any text in the box next to "Link URL". Paste the link you copied in step 2 into the box.
  9. Choose whether or not to open the link in a new window by using the drop-down box next to "Link Target".
  10. You can also choose whether or not to display a banner on the page by clicking the check box next to "no banner".
  11. Click "Save".
  12. A link to the resource is now added and should appear in the location you chose.
